I wanted to write about the Boston Marathon earlier this week and put out my condolences to the families of the victims. But my disposition got the better of me and I deleted what I had wrote. My heart is very sad to see the media talking more about the suspects than the victims. I am going to try to explain what is in my thoughts about terrorist and why we should stop advertising who they are to the public and take away their publicity. It is the same thing as what happened with 9 - 11, and other acts of terrorism against democracy. What do you think would happen if we talked about the victim more than the terrorist. The victim would get more publicity and the terrorist would fade quietly into the past with out everyone knowing their name better than that of the victims. It seems to me that the terrorist want to go out in glory with the media constantly repeating who they are. I want to know more about the courage of the bystanders more than the chicken $#!% that planted a bomb and then ran from it to save himself. The bystanders will be living this nightmare for a very long time trying to understand why someone would want to hurt or kill them. They are the heroes that I want to hear from and about, the ones that went in to assist the injured and the families of the victims. I want to hear about how good of a person the victim was or is and what they did for a living, not the person who only thought of themselves. I believe that if we concentrate on this more than the way it has been going, the next terrorist will remain nameless and go down in history with less glory than they are getting now.
So, let me ask you this question, who do you want to hear more about? The victims or the terrorist?

It seems like everyday something great happens. Sometimes you have to look for what it was that was great to see it. Today, I got the opportunity to meet Rick Harrison from the TV show Pawn Stars at Ed Bozarth Chevrolet. We took a couple four pictures of him and then posed for a professional photographer with him as well. I was quite surprised to see he was of real average size and to be honest he seemed a little shy or reserved, but very polite to say the least. The picture from the photographer is said to be ready to pick up from them for free so that it did not take up too much time and hold up the line. But,..... thanks to being a student, I could use the excuse that I needed pictures for my blog assignment. So with the help of my wife, she shot some photos real quick and then ran up to Rick for a hug. Simple as it may seem, it was still pretty cool to meet him. Can't wait to see what tomorrow can brings.

log 12 Interview
Hey everyone,
It has been an interesting week here in Instructional Services. I was able to interview Dale Rusche about his position here at Washburn University and how he likes it. The reason I interviewed Dale was because of an error that I made in doing my home work for Mass Media Boot Camp, I thought I was supposed to do a video of something we care about just to find out that it had to be audio instead video. Now I asked him several questions ahead of time and when it was all said and done we had 3 minutes and 30 some seconds recorded to put in Podcast. Funny sometimes how you go to do something and end up doing way more than you expected to. But nothing was lost as I did learn a few things in the process. So if you find yourself in my shoes just try to get the most out of it and try to remember that you do not have to do it but that you get the chance to do it. Got to look for the positives in life to keep us going forward.
Have a Great Weekend and see you next week.

Have you ever felt torn between what you have to do and what you want to do. Yesterday I finally got my Harley out of the shop and was able to bring it home just before five pm on Friday. I have not had a chance to ride since the beginning of last fall on a beautiful traditional ride to Casaday, Ks. There were more than six of us riding down the highway when for no particular reason my drive train failed on me about 10 short of making it to our destination. We all stopped to see if it was something simple to fix but it just would not go anywhere very far as the clutch plates and the transmission both disintegrated inside the primary case. So I called my wife to get my truck and come get me on what was supposed to be a relaxing day riding along the scenic highway. About an hour and a half went by before the guys came back from Casaday and my wife showed up with my truck. It was a warm day sitting there in the sun on my motorcycle waving at all the bikes that went by. Yeah, that day fell off a cliff as far as I am concerned but it sure felt good to ride again yesterday. As soon as I get the other homework and chores done I am planning on going again today, I hope.

The weather is changing and the grass is starting to green which means that lawn mowing season is coming up quick. I always feel a sense of pride after I have done my yard work and step back to see a clean and manicured landscape. Most of the elm trees are budding right now and you can tell by the little bulbs that keep falling off of them. Even the oak trees are starting to show signs of life again as the left over leaves are beginning let loose from the branches. I have one of the flower beds raked free of leaves but now will have to do it again as the strong south winds keep blowing leaves from around the neighborhood back into the garden. Oh well, that just gives me more reason to be around the house and enjoy the weather. I hope that you are enjoying it as well.
